Today I visited a lovely little care home in a large town. Like many homes of its sort it is not purpose built but a converted house housing 21 residents.
The Local Authority had filled most of the home with low fee paying residents but had also made their feelings clear..
The emphasis going forward was on placing back into the family home wherever possible.
The home was worried about occupancy and frankly, remaining viable.
My take is that to rely on this erratic source as an income stream (for low fees) is not a good strategy for a social care business in the long term.
So we have devised a plan of action
And the first easy step should bring in 7 X my daily fee.
Next steps have been identified and I am confident that we can make a real difference to this Social Care provider
